Weekend Results
Mixed weekend results for Coolmine’s senior squads. A resounding 34-0 home win over Tallaght for the 3rds puts them back on top of the league, one point ahead of Old Belvedere. Meanwhile it was metro cup woe for the 1st XV crashing out after a 27-20 defeat to Lansdowne RFC. Early scores for the home side put them 13-0 ahead (a converted try and 2 penalties). Coolmine managed to pull 6 points back before the break with two penalties from Donal Crotty. However a try in the second half put the home side 20 – 6 ahead. A try from David Stacey narrowed the gap but Lansdowne replied soon after with a try of their own. Last play of the game saw Donal Crotty break through the centre for a consolation score. They turn their attention next week to their league campaign with a home local derby clash against Garda RFC. The 3rds take a break next week and then face Old Belvedere the following Saturday in a top of the clash which could be worth 8 points to the winner.
Our seconds had a break this weekend and the U21’s game against UCD was cancelled. Photos are from both of the weekend’s games.
